Rain Gutter & Downspout Cleaning
Gutter cleaning is often ignored, but they serve a very valuable function by diverting water from your roof and allow it to drain harmlessly away from your home. Without gutters, your house could experience costly water damage, mold and mildew, leaks in the roof and ceiling, and even foundation problems over time. Managing clean rain gutters, downspouts, and rooflines will prevent water leaks into your home and will also limit erosion around your home caused by water overflowing into your landscaping. At Clean Coastal Living, our gutter cleaning professionals strive to assist your property in becoming free from water damage due to clogged gutters.
Importance of Gutter Cleaning
Breeding of Insects
If you haven’t had any gutter cleaning done in a while, it’s very likely that you have debris accumulating inside of your gutters. The debris also helps to trap water and creates an insect haven. This type of environment is a prime breeding ground for mosquitoes, wasps, and termites. All of which can find their way into your home.
Wood Rots
The fascia is a structural component of your roof, made of wood, that is attached to your gutters. When gutters are not cleaned annually they tend to become clogged. A clogged gutter can have inches of water sitting in them, which will rot the wood of your roof’s fascia.
Flooding in Basements/ Homes
Gutters are used to route the water from storms away from your home. When gutter cleaning is needed, the gutters overflow, and water is left to pour down the home’s siding and pool around the foundation. Homes with basements will often become flooded as a result of improper gutter maintenance.
Cracks Foundation
When gutter cleaning has not been done regularly your gutters become full of leaves and debris, they will not drain properly. Therefore, when a rain shower comes along the gutters will overflow and the water will spill over the edge. This will allow too much water to soak into the ground surrounding your home’s foundation.
Why You Need Professional Gutter Cleaning
Let’s be honest, gutter cleaning can be a challenge. It can even be a hazard for someone with physical limitations. Not only does it put you in danger by requiring you to climb onto a ladder and up to your roof, but it’s also time-consuming and takes a lot of energy. The debris you find in your gutters can be unpleasant to remove and dispose of, as well. For especially high gutters, you might need special equipment to get the job done.

How Often Should Gutters Be Cleaned?
That depends on your surroundings and the type of gutter systems installed in your home. At the very least, gutters and downspout systems need to be cleaned every fall or winter to keep wet, fallen leaves from stopping them up.
Once every 6 months is standard for some homeowners but if your property is surrounded by Live Oak trees or pine trees then it could require cleaning every 3 to 4 months. The best way to tell is to examine your gutters. Do you see leaves, twigs, or dirt in them? If so, they are due for a cleaning. If they haven’t been cleaned in a long time and are starting to sprout, it’s definitely time.

K-Style
K-style gutters are the most popular gutter style with nearly 98% of homes using them. These kinds of statistics make it no big surprise that our 5” K-style gutter foam is the most popular size and style we make. K-style gutters are designed with a flat back and bottom with a decorative front that may resemble crown molding or the letter “K”. K-style gutters can also be referred to as an ogee-style gutter, but the design and ability to use GutterStuff as a protector against leaves, dirt, and debris are the same.
Designed to be durable and easy to use, GutterStuff’s gutter foam holds its shape and protects your gutters from dirt and debris while still allowing water through.
GutterStuff comes in a variety of widths to discreetly fill your gutter
Prevents mosquitos from using your gutters as a personal breeding ground.
Installation is quick and simple, even for the less than handy homeowner.
Half Round
Half Round Gutters are the traditional gutter style for many, especially those with homes that were built before the advent of K-style gutters in the 1950s. Half-round, also known as U-shaped, gutters date back to the early 1900s and this traditional shape has lasted over one-hundred years due to its effectiveness.
Like every gutter, half-round gutters can get clogged by the collection of dirt, leaves, and debris so we created a GutterStuff foam to fit and protect half-round gutters.
Half-round GutterStuff is designed to hold its shape and fit securely in the gutter without impeding water flow and a variety of coating options are available to suit you and your home’s needs.
GutterStuff not only prevents gutter blockage, but it also provides a layer of defense to prevent insects and animals from making a home out of your gutters.
GutterStuff installation is fast, easy, and can be completed without having to dismantle your current gutter system.
